1. Who provides the service

2. What Staffekt is

Staffekt carries projects, conversations and Claude Code sessions from one of your computers to another, one at a time. The program on your computer encrypts the data before sending it; the server only keeps encrypted data and a lock that says which computer is working.

The service is an invite-only beta and is free during the beta. Before we introduce a price we will tell you by email and you can choose whether to continue.

3. The key: lost key = lost data

Your data is encrypted with a key that exists only on your computers. The server keeps one copy protected by your passphrase and one protected by the recovery code: without at least one of them nobody can open it.

• We cannot reset your passphrase or recover the key for you.
• If you lose both the passphrase and the recovery code, the data stored on Staffekt is gone for good. It is not a fault and not something we can fix: it is how the encryption works.
• Keeping the passphrase and the recovery code is your responsibility: keep them in different places, for example a password manager and a printed sheet.
• Anyone with your passphrase or recovery code and one of your paired computers can read your data: keep them secret.

4. Your data

Your data stays yours. We don't read it, analyse it or use it to train models: encrypted as it is, we couldn't. We only see what the service needs to work: device names, times, unit names (for example the encoded path of a project) and sizes. The details are in the privacy policy.

Staffekt is not a backup. It keeps some earlier versions, but it doesn't replace an independent copy of your projects, for example a remote git repository.

5. Account, computers and lock

Each computer joins your account with an invite code. You can revoke a computer at any time. The lock never releases itself: if you force a takeover from another computer, the changes the other computer had not uploaded are set aside on that computer, not deleted.

6. Acceptable use

Use Staffekt for your own work data and within the law. Don't use it to store or distribute unlawful content, to attack the service or to upload amounts of data clearly unrelated to its purpose. In case of abuse we may suspend the account, telling you when possible.

7. Beta: availability and changes

During the beta the service may have outages and change. We don't guarantee a minimum availability. If we had to shut the service down we would tell you by email at least 30 days in advance, so you can download everything with staffekt giu, except in cases of force majeure.

8. The software

The staffekt program is free software, released under the GNU GPL version 3 or later, and is provided without warranty under the terms of that licence.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for data loss caused by losing the passphrase and the recovery code, nor for indirect damages caused by the service being unavailable during the beta. Liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence and the rights the law gives consumers remain unaffected; these terms don't limit them.

10. Closing your account

You can close your account at any time by writing to the address above. We delete the encrypted data and the account data within 30 days. After deletion it cannot be recovered.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a meaningful way we will tell you by email before they take effect. If you don't agree you can close your account.

12. Governing law

Italian law applies. If you are a consumer, the courts of the place where you live have jurisdiction.

Remember: lost key = lost data. Before uploading anything, store your recovery code somewhere safe.
